Cycling

Drenthe is ideal for cycling tours, with many kilometers of well-maintained cycle paths through a stunning landscape. We made our own cycle junction map of East Drenthe, with the campsite as the center, which you can buy from us. And we rent bicycles.

Walking

From the campsite you can take beautiful walks. There are described routes of 3 to 9 kilometers, and if you want to go further, you can combine a few of them. Through the back gate you can walk straight into the Mepper Hooilanden. Route descriptions are available at the TIP office, Aelderstraat 21A in Aalden.

Golfing

Golf course de Gelpenberg is 2 kilometers away and ranks 14th in the Leading Courses list.

Nature nearby

  • Our pride: the little pond on the campsite, surrounded by wild plants and flowers, and a breeding place for frogs.
  • The huge acacia on the grounds, a protected tree.
  • The Mepper Hooilanden, which border directly on our grounds.
  • Nature reserve de Mepperdennen, where an erratic boulder of 17,000 kilos marks the entrance. It probably came along with the inland ice 30,000 years ago.
  • The forests of the Gees forestry area, nature reserve de Hooge Stoep and the Mantingerzand.
  • De Palms, where juniper bushes still grow abundantly.

WILDLANDS in Emmen, open-air museum Ellert en Brammert in Schoonoord and the museum village Orvelte.

The hunebedden (dolmens), the heathlands with sheep flocks and the sculpture garden De Hullu in Gees.

In the swimming lakes: swimming pool Zweeloo, recreation park het Aelderholt and the swimming pool of camping De Bronzen Emmer.

Eat out

After a day outside
